2023 NYSARC Grants Provide Great Experiences!

We are so grateful for the support this year from NYSARC Trust Services grants! This year, Schenectady Arc was awarded $12,069 in grant funds from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support the agency’s recreation programs.

The funds provide opportunities for people we support to take part in fun and meaningful activities, including: tickets to museums, baseball games, train rides (scenic and holiday), a visit to the immersive Van Gogh experience at the Schenectady Armory, arts and craft supplies, a Lake George boat ride, trips to the Baseball Hall of Fame, local fairs and fall festivals, an “Uncharted Wild” experience at Maple Ridge Day Hab, Create Art Studio sessions, and more.

Schenectady Arc also received $9,500 in grant funding to provide guardianship services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who would not otherwise have a legal guardian or advocate. Supported by Chapter staff and community volunteers, Schenectady Arc’s Guardianship Program currently provides guardianship supports and services to people and support as a standby or alternate standby guardian.

NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts (SNT) and pooled trusts that can make dramatic improvements to the lives of people with disabilities by enabling individuals to maintain eligibility for Medicaid and other means-tested government benefit programs. For 2023, NYSARC Trust Services is proud to fulfill its commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by awarding a total of $2,697,980 to The Arc New York Chapters statewide.

2023 was a great year, with lots of fun and new experiences, thanks to support from the NYSARC Trust Services Recreation and Guardianship Grants!
