The ARC 5k Challenge ReturnsThis summer lace-up the kicks and get ready to hit the trails as we host the Annual ARC5k Challenge. This 5k and Family 1 mile Wellnes Walk will bring
you to your knees (in a agood way) as you celebrate your victory and the
victories that individuals with developmental disabilities celebrate everyday.

One of the most exciting summer events in Schenectady County, The ARC Luau in the Park. The Luau brings a little bit of the islands to Central Park in Schenectady every summer. The event features live entertainment, great food from locally reknowned BBQ'ers.
Last summer the crowd of Luau goers were entertained by a traditional Hula. Dancers from the Polynesian Dance Productions team were on hand to teach everyone a little Hawaii'an Hula. We are looking forward to their return this summer with even more dancers.
The ARC 5k Challenge was developed to raise awareness of Developmental
Disabilities. It also serves to educate the public on the use of insensitive
terms such as the "R" word. Adults and Children with Developmental Disabilities
are very similar to everyone else. They have tremendous abilities to achieve
great things in life. The purpose of our race is to highlight the abilities that
all individuals have.
The ARC 5k Challenge will run two routes through Central Park. Our Family Mini Wellness Challenge will allow children and families to participate in a fun but challenging course that will keep everybody fit and healthy. The 5k Course (USATF Certified) will provide even the most serious runner with a challenge. The course winds through Schenectady's beautiful Central Park. Challenging hills and relaxing flats will drive you to the finish line.
Schenectady ARC is 60 years old in 2012. As part of the celebration we are aiming to raise $60,000 by the end of the year. These contributions and donations ensure that individuals with developmenatl disabilities are able to receive the quality programs and services that they require. During the month of October we will be hosting our birthday celebration with a one of a kind event never seen before in Schenectady. Stay tuned...
