An online survey by Quantum Market Research measured employee retention, managerial effectiveness, goal alignment and trust between co-workers, and other areas.
Schenectady ARC is one of only six organizations with 400 or more employees to receive this designation.
Schenectady ARC offers a wide range of benefits and services for both full and
part-time employees.
HEALTH INSURANCE
The agency offers a comprehensive three tiered HMO medical plan through Capital District Physician’s Health Plan (CDPHP). Dental benefits which include Orthodontia are also available through Delta Dental. Employees are eligible for benefits on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Benefits cease on date of termination.
The agency contributes to the cost of your medical and dental benefits. The employee portion of premiums will be deducted from an employee’s pay on a tax-deferred basis.
VACATION TIME
Each full-time employee earns 1 vacation day per month, thus totaling 12 days each year. Vacations may be taken at any time during the year with supervisory approval.
PERSONAL TIME
During the first year of employment employees earn 1 personal day after 3, 6, and 9 months. Following this, employees earn 4 personal days on their anniversary date to be used during the next year.
SICK TIME
Full-time employees earn 1 sick day each month, thus totaling 12 days each year. Part-time employees will earn benefit time at a halftime rate
HOLIDAYS
The agency is closed for most major holidays. Employees also earn four floating holidays each year according to published calendar, one on January 1, April 1, July 1, and the fourth on October 1. Holiday schedules may vary for employees of the Residential Services Department.
EMPLOYEE REFERRAL
The agency will award $100 to an ARC employee that refers an applicant to any of our programs. The candidate must list the ARC staff person on their application and must successfully complete their 90 day provisional period.
ANNUITY PLAN
All employees are eligible to join the Annuity Plan. This tax-deferred account offers long term savings opportunities. Employees are eligible to enroll when employment begins. The agency begins contribution after 1 year of service. Employees must contribute a minimum of 1% of their base salary to be eligible for the agency contribution. Schenectady ARC’s contribution schedule is as follows:
After 1 year of service 1% of base annualized wages
After 2 years of service 2% of base annualized wages
After 3 years of service 3% of base annualized wages
After 4 years of service 4% of base annualized wages
5 + years of service 5% of base annualized wages
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
After successful completion of probationary all full-time employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement, the Bella Stuart Scholarship program, and ARC’s Professional Development program. Applications for all reimbursements can be obtained in the Human Resources Department and additional information regarding eligibility will be provided upon inquiry.
CREDIT UNION
Each employee is eligible to join the First Teacher’s Federal Credit Union, Capital Communications or SEFCU, Sunmark FCU. Any arrangements are made between the employee and the Credit Union. Such services as checking and savings accounts, Christmas Clubs and vacation, auto loans and mortgages are available.
DIRECT DEPOSIT
All employees may now choose to directly deposit their paycheck into the bank of their choice. Money must be deposited to one bank only and employees can opt to deposit entire check or just a percentage of their earnings.
LIFE INSURANCE
The agency provides a $10,000 life insurance policy for all benefit eligible employees. In addition, employees are eligible for group rated Supplemental employee paid term life insurance for themselves and their dependents.
LONG TERM DISABILITY
Long term disability is an agency sponsored benefit with no cost to you. Full time employees are eligible for this benefit on the first day of the month following one year of continuous service in an eligible position. Employees have the option to Buy-up additional coverage through payroll deductions.
HEALTH REIMBURSEMENT ACCOUNTS (HRA)
The agency funds an HRA account for all benefit eligible employees. The funds are to be used for out of pocket medical expenses. Agency contributions are determined on an annual basis.
Inpatient Hospital Co-Pay Account
This benefit will reimburse eligible employees and their eligible dependents $750.00 towards the CDPHP HMO inpatient hospital co-pay, one occurrence per person per calendar year.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT (FSA)
Benefit eligible employees can have pre-tax dollars deducted from their paycheck to be used to cover unreimbursed medical and dependent care expenses.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP)
The agency contracts with Employee Services, Inc. to offer confidential counseling and guidance services. This service allows for an initial diagnostic evaluation and short term counseling free of charge to the employee and their families.
VISION DISCOUNTS
All ARC employees are entitled to 25% - 40% discounts on eye exams or eye wear at all Empire Vision Centers.
VOLUNTARY BENEFITS
Schenectady ARC has chosen to make these programs available to you through the convenience of payroll deduction. As a new eligible employee you may qualify for preferred underwriting. All of the plans offered are portable without an increase in rates, as long as premiums are paid.
