Life Prep
ImageLife Prep is the newest option for day services and designed to prepare individuals to be as independent as possible in order to live and work in their community. This service model combines services and supports that have more traditionally been isolated. We coordinate vocational, sheltered employment, clinical and day habilitation services, with a strong emphasis on assisting individuals and families with the transition after school services, as well as assist them to navigate through the adult service systems and identify and access financial supports. The program’s current site has a full kitchen, conference room and activity room making it perfect for classes including cooking, art and work readiness. A second site is in now located at 1760 Union Street, Schenectady.

Individuals participate in a schedule of activities that they have designed, including groups related to independent living skills, social/recreational, volunteering in the community, vocational training, transportation training, etc. Some activities occur in small groups up to 5 individuals; others are provided individually. The best aspect of this service model is that there is not a “typical” day.
