Employee Highlight – Bill Faulkner

Take a walk through the New York State Capitol with Bill Faulkner and you will think you are walking with the Governor. Hellos and waves come from every passerby. Bill welcomes their acknowledgements with an ear to ear smile and witty reply.
Bill has worked as a messenger at the New York State Assembly for over 30 years. His daily routine is making deliveries to more than 600 offices throughout the Empire State Plaza. Bill’s work ethic and sense of humor have made him an instant celebrity in the legislative world.
Bill lives in Schenectady. Like so many state workers, he makes the daily commute to Albany, and he would not change a thing. “My job is great, so the travel is worth it to me.”
In his spare time Bill enjoys reading books, taking walks and meeting up with friends from Schenectady ARC to go out for dinner or attend concerts. He also enjoys taking trips.
Every year Bill looks forward to a trip to New Mexico, where he visits his parents and sister who recently retired. When asked if he would ever consider moving to New Mexico to retire, Bill pauses for a moment and smiles. “I love visiting and I miss my parents, but I also like my life here. I guess you could say that I am very happy just the way things are for now.”
